What is broken?

The fixes we do at a flat price

Each of these is a job we close in one sitting, so it gets one number. Anything that is not on the list is billed at the hourly rate below, and we tell you which before starting.

Remote

Email landing in spam or bouncing

Clients say our emails go to junk, or we get "message not delivered" bounces.

  • SPF, DKIM and DMARC published correctly
  • Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace signing switched on
  • A DMARC report address so you can see it working

Not on the list? It is hourly, and we say so first.

You get an estimate before we start and a call before we pass it. Remote is the default because it is faster and cheaper for you; on-site is for the things that need hands in the room.

Remote

$135per hour, CAD

30-minute minimum, then 15-minute increments.

Most fixes. We connect to the affected machine with your say-so and you watch the session.

On-site

$165per hour, CAD

60-minute minimum, then 30-minute increments.

Hardware, cabling, network gear and anything that needs hands in the room. GTA only.

Straight answer

When a fix is the wrong thing to buy

A one-off fix is the right purchase for a one-off problem. If you are calling every few weeks, you are paying by the hour for problems a plan would have prevented — the plan includes the patching, monitoring and backup checks that stop most of them. Every plan starts at $99 per user per month, and anything you spent on a fix in the previous 30 days comes off the first invoice.

We tell you which side of that line you are on after the first fix, not before.

  • The same machine or the same person is in the queue every month
  • Nobody owns patching, backups or licences between fixes
  • Your insurer or a client is asking for evidence you cannot produce

Break-fix FAQ

Questions before you book

5 results
CoverageDo we need to be on a managed IT plan to book a fix?

No. Break-fix is for offices that do not have a plan, or have an in-house person who wants backup on one problem. You pay for the fix and nothing else. If you sign up for a plan within 30 days, the fix is credited against your first month.

CoverageHow fast can you get to it?

Remote fixes are usually started the same business day, and we tell you a time before you commit. We do not promise the 1-hour response that managed plans get, because that response is something we staff for plan clients specifically.

PricingWhat if the fix takes longer than the flat price covers?

A flat price is flat. If a fix takes us three hours instead of one, that is our problem, not yours. The only time the price changes is if the job turns out to be a different job — a "slow computer" that is actually failing hardware — and we stop and tell you before doing anything else.

CoverageIs a plan cheaper than fixing things as they break?

Not always, and we will not pretend otherwise. An office that needs one fix a year should pay for one fix. An office calling every few weeks is paying by the hour for problems a plan would have prevented — the plan includes the patching, monitoring and backup checks that stop most of them — and at $99 per user per month it usually comes out ahead once you are calling more than a couple of times a month. We tell you which side of that line you are on after the first fix.

CoverageDo you fix home computers?

Only when they are used for work — a partner working from home on the firm’s files, for example. We are a business IT practice and we say no to purely personal machines so we can say yes quickly to offices.
