CtrlShiftIT
PRIVACY

We collect almost nothing, and we can show you where.

This page describes what actually happens on ctrlshiftit.ca. It is written from the code that runs the site, not from a template, and it is short because there is not much to describe.

No cookies. No visitor ID. No third-party trackers or ad networks.

You will not see a cookie banner here, because there is nothing to consent to. The site sets no cookies and writes nothing to your browser's storage. Our fonts are served from this domain rather than Google's, so simply reading a page sends no request to anyone but us.

What the site measures

We count five things, and the list is fixed in the code rather than configurable: a page view, a click on a phone number, an enquiry form being opened, an enquiry being sent, and use of the cost calculator.

Each of those records, at most:

  • the path you were on, for example /managed-it-services
  • the hostname of the site that linked you here, never the full address
  • whether your screen is phone, tablet or desktop sized
  • for the calculator only, the dollar figure it settled on

There is no identifier tying those records to each other or to you. We cannot tell that the same person viewed two pages, and we accepted losing that on purpose: it is what keeps this measurement out of consent-banner territory.

If your browser sends Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control, nothing is recorded at all.

What you send us

The enquiry forms ask for your name, company, work email, optionally a phone number, roughly how many people work there, and whatever you choose to type. The security quiz asks only for an email address so it can send the report.

That goes to us as an email, through our delivery provider, and then it sits in our mailbox like any other message from a prospective client. It is not added to a database, because this site does not have one — there is no storage of any kind attached to it beyond the anonymous counts above. We use what you send to reply to you and to prepare the assessment or quote you asked for.

To stop automated abuse of those forms, the server briefly holds the requesting IP address in memory to count submissions. It is not written to disk and does not survive the server recycling.

The site assistant

If you use the chat, what you type is sent to Cloudflare's AI service to generate a reply. We do not keep a transcript. As with any assistant, do not paste passwords, client data or anything else confidential into it.

Who else is involved

  • Cloudflare — hosts and serves the site, and provides the AI behind the assistant. As the network carrying every request, Cloudflare processes connection data such as IP addresses to deliver and protect the site.
  • Resend — delivers form submissions to our inbox as email.

We do not sell, rent or share your information with anyone else.

How long it is kept

  • Anonymous counts: three months, then they are gone.
  • Emails from the forms: kept while we are in contact and for as long as we need them for our records. Ask us to delete yours and we will.
  • Chat messages: not retained by us.

Your choices

Under Canadian privacy law (PIPEDA) you can ask what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email info@ctrlshiftit.ca or call (416) 624-4841 and we will handle it.

To opt out of the anonymous counts, turn on Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control in your browser. Nothing else on the site needs an opt-out, because nothing else is recorded.

Changes

If what the site collects changes, this page changes with it. Anything materially different will be dated here rather than quietly amended.
